Arctic Maritime Safety Information System (AMSI)
The Arctic Maritime Safety Information system (AMSI) is a voluntary system run by the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). It is designed to provide information on the location and nature of all maritime hazards (such as moored buoys) in the Arctic Ocean outside of territorial waters. The intent of the program is to protect ships, submarines and research equipment from mutual interference. Information about marine hazards may be added to the system at NGA Web site. AOSB encourages all project leaders to participate in this voluntary program for the safety of their equipment as well as vessels in the Arctic.
