UPON ARRIVAL IN FAIRBANKS
A shuttle bus runs between the Hotel Princess Lodge and the airport in Fairbanks. The Princess Lodge offers a complementary shuttle service which runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week from the airport to the hotel. Once you land in Fairbanks, call +1-907-455-4477 and they will send out a van to bring you to the hotel. You will only have to wait 15-20 minutes for the van to arrive. You may use the same service when you are ready to return to the airport upon departure. Taxi service is also available and costs approximately $10 for a one-way trip.
DURING YOUR STAY IN FAIRBANKS

There will be a shuttle service from Princess Hotel to IARC in the morning and back at the end of the day. See the agenda for departure times each day.
2. Registration
Registration will be taking place before the icebreaker at the Princess Lodge on November 6, 2009, and on November 7, 2009 from 8:00 am at the workshop facility in the main lobby.
3. Meals
Lunch is being provided by IARC, free of charge, to all participants. Morning and afternoon coffee breaks are also being provided by IARC and will include light snacks. Morning and evening meals shall be covered by the participants.
4. Field Trip
Kenji Yoshikawa of the Water and Environmental Research Center, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, will lead a field trip for Workshop participants on Sunday 8 November in the afternoon. Workshop participants will take advantage of being in Fairbanks, at the leading edge of climate change, and observe evidence of active change in the area, particularly as observed in the changing permafrost. The tour will culminate at the Chena Hot Springs outside of Fairbanks for a workshop dinner hosted by the Norwegian Polar Research Institute. The field trip and dinner are being offered at no additional cost to Workshop participants.
5. Workshop dinner
The field trip will conclude at the Chena Hot Springs Resort. Participants will have the opportunity to soak in the hot springs or enjoy a drink at the bar prior to the workshop dinner at 18:30. If you chose to enjoy the hot springs, please bring a swimsuit and towel. The cost of a soak in the hot springs is $6 per person. Towel rental is $5. The dinner is being hosted by and is courtesy of the Norwegian Research Council.
6. Internet access
WLAN is available in the hotel and at the meeting facility.
7. Money/ credit cards/ ATM
Credit cards are accepted in all major locations in and around Fairbanks. An ATM machine for cash transactions is available in the hotel lobby.
8. Clothing
In November it can be very cold in Fairbanks. You can find the weather forecast on www.weatherforyou.com/weather/alaska/fairbanks.html. In case you chose to enjoy the hot springs during the workshop dinner, please bring a swimsuit and towel.
